Cooper Wilson Named FCB Athlete of the Week for August 31
LB Cooper Wilson led the Indians with a team-high 15 tackles, 10 solo tackles, and a tackle for loss in the Indians 42-16 win over the Tallassee Tigers.
WETUMPKA, Ala. — Cooper Wilson was everywhere for the Wetumpka defense Friday night.
The junior linebacker turned in one of the strongest defensive performances of the young season as the Indians rolled past Tallassee, 42-10, to improve to 2-0.
Wilson finished with a team-high 15 tackles, including 10 solo stops and one tackle for loss, helping Wetumpka keep the Tallassee offense out of the end zone for the entire game.
His impact went beyond the stat sheet.
Wilson consistently found himself around the football, helping close running lanes and forcing Tallassee into difficult situations throughout the night. He also delivered one of the biggest hits of the game on kickoff coverage, setting the tone for a Wetumpka defense and special teams unit that played with physicality from start to finish.
The performance continued a strong start for a Wetumpka defense that has allowed just 10 points through its first two games.
With another region game ahead, Wilson has already established himself as one of the key pieces in a defense that has helped Wetumpka open the season unbeaten.
